Oxford, Maine – Evan Beaulieu went into the final race of the Amsoil Nelcar Legends Tour 2012 season at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine looking to win a championship and excited to finally race at a track where he grew up watching so many legendary racers.

After finishing a solid second behind points leader Matt Bourgoine in the heat race, Beaulieu was revved up for the feature event knowing he had a solid race car. The challenge – since he’d won the last Nelcar feature race, he would have to start last on the field.

Early in the race the outside groove would prove friendly for Evan as he started winging his way through the field and by the time the caution flag flew on lap 15 he was already up to 8th.

“The car was working well in the early going, but after the caution it started to get really loose,” Evan said.

That would prove to be his undoing. He made his way to sixth and tried valiantly to move further but it was not to be as he settled for a sixth place finish.

“With the gear we had in the car I had to keep it wound up but I also couldn’t do much on the outside later in the race because the car got so loose,” Evan continued. “We tried several times but there wasn’t a lot of respect out there either so sixth was the best we could do. It’s a tough way to end the season knowing you had a car capable of winning the race but that’s how it goes sometimes.”

Evan ended the 2012 season second in Amsoil Nelcar Legends Tour points with 6 wins, 19 top fives and 25 top tens in 30 races.  Along with that he was a solid ninth place in the Pro National US Legends Cars Points Standings, out of over 250 drivers. He also went to Wiscasset Raceway in Wiscasset, Maine on Sunday to help promote the re-opening of the track in 2013. “That was a blast,” he smiled. “I am really looking forward to running there some next season, the Jordan family are all great people and I can’t wait to see what they can bring to this track.”

A major announcement about Evan’s 2013 plans will be made very soon. “I am truly excited about what’s ahead for me next year,” the driver teased. “I would say the next week or two will be very exciting for our fans, our sponsors and our race team. Stay tuned!”
