Durham, Maine – Defending Amsoil Nelcar Touring Series champion Evan Beaulieu, 19, got his first NHMS win two weeks ago. On Sunday, he nearly had his second win on the 1.6 mile road course, but couldn’t hold off Reid Lanpher and had to settle for second in a furious race to the checkers.
“That was another fun NHMS race!” Evan smiled. “And another brutal one. I locked my brakes up early and nearly lost it. Then I was able to get the lead on a restart and race with Matt (Bourgoine) and Shaun (Buffington) for a while. Reid came on later. Matt and I made contact and I did a complete 360 and kept going without losing the lead. Reid got me on a restart shortly after that. He did an awesome job. I can’t thank my team and my sponsors enough for making today possible. We have the points lead now so that’s what matters!”
Evan was busy last week with his No. 56 INEX Legends Car prior to the NHMS start. “I was at an event at the Auburn Mall in Auburn, ME for teen safety, raising awareness for the Save Speed 4 The Track organization. My car was at Hancock Lumber on Saturday as well, bringing in a lot of people to the store. We always enjoy doing these things for our sponsors and the community. It made for a full but enjoyable weekend!”
