Durham, ME – After rain postponed the events at Oxford Plains Speedway, Evan and his father Todd spent the weekend getting their car, “Black Betty,” ready to make some right turns this coming weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.  This weekend will mark the final races of the season at the track, and will have road racing both days on the 1.6 mile road course.  Beaulieu won the opening race earlier this year to start off a great season that the team has enjoyed.  He also holds the current track record, when his only lap in qualifying in the last race there, was the fastest in the field.  Even with the success, he knows going into this event it will be tough to get back into Victory Lane.

“It’s always difficult when you go to NHMS,” Evan explained over the weekend, “It’s just so competitive down there, and the last race there we had five cars running for the lead and any one of us could have won.  I kind of used my stuff up early in the race because I pushed the car so hard at the beginning, we’ll go into this weekend ready to capitalize because we need wins, that’s all that really matters to me right now.”

Even with the six victories this season, the most of anyone in the Amsoil Nelcar Legends Tour, Beaulieu is still sitting second in points after a rough stretch of races to end the summer.  The team has been on a hot streak lately though, winning three of the last four point’s races.  With just two races remaining, Beaulieu knows what he needs to do to close the gap and grab his second straight Nelcar championship.

“It’s been a very interesting season for us, I’ve had some of the best moments of my life and some of the worst, but it’s made us as a team stronger,” Evan explained of his season so far, “We got two races remaining, I haven’t even looked at the points with throwaways because at this point, it really doesn’t matter, I know I need to win the heat races and get the feature wins to go with it, and that’s what we’ve been doing lately, we just need to keep it up.”

Racing is set to start at noon both days this weekend, October 6th and 7th at New Hampshire Motor Speedway as the Tour is racing alongside the Loudon Road Race Series.  Both days will count towards the Moat Mountain NHMS Series points, while just Saturday will count towards the Amsoil Nelcar Legends Tour points.  The final Nelcar race of the season will be the postponed Oxford Plains Speedway race, which will take place on October 14th.  Beaulieu and the team will also take place in the re opening day of Wiscasset Raceway on October 20th, which was recently bought by Richard Jordan to host racing full time in 2013.  Be sure to support your local short track these next few weeks before the snow starts to fall!
