(Scarborough, Me.) Evan Beaulieu, 19, took his Hancock Lumber No. 56 INEX Legends car to victory in the companion event to last weekend’s PASS (Pro All Star Series) North 400 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine.

It was a win that Evan says he has looked forward to since he put the race date on his calendar. “These PASS companion races are the ones I want to win the most. We’re still working on lining up a Pro Stock deal for next year so to come out and win in front of the biggest Pro Stock crowd is huge. We’re still behind in the points race, but we’re winning our heats and features and that’s all we can really do.”

Pressed for more details about the day, Evan said it didn’t start on nearly as high a note as it ended on. “We had to change the rear gear after the first practice and we missed the next practice because of that. It got better though. We won our heat and passed Matt (Bourgoine) on lap three to take the feature lead. The funny thing is, I had a straightaway lead in the feature taken away by a caution flag for a fender on the track and discovered it was my own fender. Fortunately, I was able to take off on the restart and hold off the 21-car field for the win!”

Evan’s next race will be Saturday night, September 22nd at New Hampshire Motor Speedway as part of the big NASCAR Weekend there. The Sylvania 300 Invitational for the legends cars will feature some of the division’s top New England stars on the ¼-mile paved oval.
