Durham, Maine – After five years of competition in the Amsoil Nelcar Legends Car Series across New England, Evan Beaulieu is moving up the racing ladder to the Pro Series Super Late Models this season.
Evan will race at Maine’s premier motorsports facility, the Beech Ridge Speedway, driving for former Beech Ridge track champion Dan McKeage.
He was happy with the results of his first test session in the car Thursday.
“This was definitely a real learning experience,” Evan said. “It took me a time or two on the track just to get used to the full-size car and the power. I spun the first time out just trying to figure it all out! The spatial judgment is also a lot different than in the Legends car. I just wanted to take my time and get used to it and we felt like we turned some respectable times toward the end of the day.”
His first experience in the Pro Stock has been just one of many things Evan has going on as the green flag gets ready to drop on the Northern USA racing season.
Evan was featured in a front page article in Maine’s Tri Town Weekly newspaper this week. His graphic design company, Nitro Designs has seen growth this year and he is finishing up his next-to-last Semester at Central Main Community College where he will earn a Business Management Degree in 2014.
“It’s been a lot to juggle,” Evan nodded. “Plus we’re still trying to hit as many road course races with the Legends car as we can. But the Pro Stock and Nitro Designs come before that so I don’t know how many races we’ll run with the Legends. We’ll do our best to hit them all. I can’t thank Dan (McKeage) and his team enough for all they’re doing for me along with my guys who have been with me in Legends and now help on the Pro Stock. I think it’s going to be a fun year!”
