Durham, ME – Beech Ridge Motor Speedway Pro Series racer Evan Beaulieu has a lot going on as the 2014 season beckons.
After teaming up in 2013 with Dan McKeage for his rookie season, Evan and his family owned team decided to field a car of their own for 2014 and are preparing that for competition now.
This past weekend Evan ran the “DT 100 Fast Forward” qualifying race. He finished second in his feature to qualify for the big race that will be held on March 1st at Maine Indoor Karting in Scarborough, Maine. Nearly $100,000 has been raised so far for the Make A Wish Foundation with this race. Top drivers from the East Coast are running in the event, including Southern NASCAR Modified hotshoes Burt and Jason Myers.
This season Evan will also be partnering with Camp Sunshine, an organization located alongside the shores of beautiful Sebago Lake that provides respite, support, joy and hope to children with life-threatening illnesses and their immediate families through various stages of a child’s illness. Evan will aid in helping with fundraising and raising awareness with his race team. Of this new partnership, Evan enthusiastically said, “I’ve been wanting to find a way to work with children and give back, Camp Sunshine has a great reputation and I’m very excited to be working with them, it’s great to be partnered with such a great organization.”
Michael Smith, director of special programs at Camp Sunshine said, “I am looking forward to working with Evan and his team. NASCAR and the Motorsports community in general have been great contributors to the camp and we look forward to continuing to build our relationship within the sport with a local driver.
The year-round program is free of charge to all families, and includes 24-hour onsite medical and psychosocial support. Bereavement groups are also offered for families who have lost a child to an illness. See more at www.campsunshine.org.
This weekend is the annual Northeast Motorsports Expo and Trade Show, the biggest show in New England and located at the Augusta Civic Center in Augusta, Maine. Evan will have his own booth at the show promoting his partners and we will be raising funds for Camp Sunshine with an Iracing simulator. The simulator will have time trials throughout the weekend and the team will be giving away prizes to the top runners. This will also be everyone’s first look at their 56 Hancock Lumber Super Late Model built by Dale Shaw Racecars.
Tomorrow night, Wednesday, January 8th, Evan will be on Mainely Motorsports TV talking about the upcoming season. It will air on Time Warner Channel 9 at 8:00PM and be available online as well. Be sure to tune in!
