Scarborough, ME – Evan Beaulieu and the #56 Hancock Lumber Chevrolet team began their 2014 campaign at the Beech Ridge Motor Speedway this past weekend.  Beaulieu had to overcome an issue during his heat race and start the race in the 28th spot and finish 15th to open the season.  After a rough race, Beaulieu was happy to survive the 50 lap feature.

“We had an ignition issue in the heat race and that put us back, that’s what I’m most upset about because we had a great opportunity to start well,” Beaulieu said of the finish, “We got too tight in the feature though and I couldn’t make much progress like I feel we should have, but this is our first full race with this car and we have some adjustments to make, we will get it.”

Beaulieu started third in his heat race after car chief Brandon Williams drew a great number to determine his position.  On the start however, Beaulieu suffered an ignition problem that took him out of the race.  He was forced to start 28th in the 30 car feature.  He drove his way through some traffic early before settling in.  After the race’s halfway point, the race took a turn and began to get rough.  Beaulieu was able to skate by the wrecks with the help of his spotter Donnie Myers and and worked his way into the top 15.  In the race’s final stint, Beaulieu suffered a brake issue, and hung on for the 15th place finish.

Beech Ridge Motor Speedway will be back in action next weekend on May 31st.  Come out to Maine’s premier short track to see some of the best action in New England with three great divisions. It will all kick off at 7:00PM and tickets are only $10!
