Durham, ME – After what has been a tough season, Evan Beaulieu and the #56 Hancock Lumber Racing team will head to Beech Ridge Motor Speedway tomorrow night for the final regular season race of the 2014 season. After two strong runs in weeks prior, the team fought the car last weekend before overheating issues forced them to retire early from the 50 lap feature event. This weekend, Beaulieu is more determined than ever to finish his season on a high note, in the race that catapulted him into the winners circle last season.
“Last year was very similar to this year, we were learning as rookies and continued to improve and got the win in the final race, this year has been different because we’ve shown signs of strong runs but we’ve had a lot of things just not go our way, but we won this race last year and there is no reason we can’t again,” Beaulieu said of tomorrow nights race, “I’m ready for it, my team deserves a strong run after all the hard work this year, I want to get a strong run as bad as anyone out there, it won’t be easy but we are up for it.”
As for the rest of the season, the team will be using this race to determine just how much racing they will do for the rest of the season. One race on their list will be the “Fall Fury” on October 4th at Wiscasset Speedway, a track that Evan has many laps on and made his Legends Car debut at. As for other happenings with the race team, Evan participated in the “Ice Bucket Challenge” last weekend, and vowed to donate half his winnings from that Saturday night to the ALS Association and Camp Sunshine. The team also had the car on display at Hancock Lumber in Brunswick as part of their final summer barbecue. The car has some new decals on it commemorating longtime sponsor Hancock Lumber on being awarded as one of the “Best Places to Work in Maine” in 2014 by the Maine Companies Group, and being the only lumber company to get the award.
The final race of the Beech Ridge Motor Speedway season all goes down tomorrow night, August 30th with the racing action starting at 7:00PM. There will be plenty of action as the championship battles in all three divisions are close and will come down to the final laps. Evan is hoping to put his 56 Hancock Lumber Chevrolet into Victory Lane just as they did last year in this event. Tickets are only $10 and kids 12 and under get in for free. We hope to see you at the track!
