(Hermon, Maine) – The month of August was fraught with struggles for Amsoil Nelcar Tour racer Evan Beaulieu. The 19-year-old is enjoying a bit of September sizzle, however, as he has won two of his last three races including last weekend’s race at Speedway 95 in Hermon, Maine.
For most of the day Evan was having things his own way with the Hancock Lumber No. 56. He ran away with his heat win and was leading the feature when series points leader Matt Bourgoine began to turn up the heat while Mother Nature turned on the tears over the race track with just seven laps to go.
“Those last seven laps were crazy,” Evan exclaimed after the race was over. “My car was sliding all over the place because the track was wet and Matt was racing me as hard as he could side by side. It must have been fun to watch but I have to tell you it was pretty stressful inside the car! My hat’s off to Matt because he raced me clean and made me work for it. We’re second in points now and our next race is at Beech Ridge. That’s our best track. We’re going to have to work hard to get past Matt but I believe we have what it takes!”
Evan went back in time on Sunday to his go-kart racing days for the 3rd Annual Mainely Motorsports 400 at Richmond Karting Speedway in Richmond, Maine. He finished 13th in Senior Sportsman and was running top five in the Animal class but got taken out. “It was fun getting back into the karts again,” he smiled. “We didn’t get the results we were hoping for but it was still a great weekend.”
