Durham, Maine – After five years of competition in the Amsoil Nelcar Legends Car Series across New England, Evan Beaulieu began his ascent up the racing ladder to the Pro Series Super Late Models at Beech Ridge Speedway on Saturday. Racing under record high temperatures for this time of the year, Beaulieu was anxious to make his debut that had been planned for almost a full year.
Driving for former Beech Ridge track champion Dan McKeage, Evan satisfied his goal of putting the car in the trailer at the end of the night in one piece while gaining valuable information he can use in coming weeks to get faster.
“Where do I even begin to talk about tonight?” an excited Beaulieu said after the race. “We struggled a bit early in the day but we made consistent gains and ran our fastest laps in the heat race. I think we started 20th in the 50-lap feature. Our goal was to finish the race with the car in one piece and just learn all we could.”
Elaborating on the feature race itself, the 19-year-old college student and graphic designer continued. “I thought the car was a bit too tight in the heat race so we made a rather large change. I think we went a bit too far because it went from tight to really loose but we finished 16th, on the lead lap, and I couldn’t be any happier with how we ran. We had so much help from PASS North points leader Joey Doiron and many others, I’ve got a great group of people helping me. I’m very grateful for everyone’s dedication. This is going to be one heck of a fun season!”
This Wednesday, June 5th Evan’s car will be on display at Bentley’s Saloon in Arundel, Maine as part of their very popular annual “All Era’s” Racecar show. The green flag drops at 5pm and the checkered flag falls at 7 so get there early and have a great time!
